Nearly one year after the closing of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai on 13 October 2025, its ideas, innovations and creations continue to inspire communities across Japan and beyond. Held under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai brought together 165 Official Participants (158 countries and regions, and 7 international organisations) and welcomed more than 29 million visitors.

While the former Expo site continues to undergo works to prepare for its next life, the Expo’s legacy can be felt far and wide, thanks notably to the pavilions, objects and materials that have found new homes since the Expo closed its gates.

Mapping the tangible legacy of Expo 2025

To showcase how Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is being carried forward, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition has created a Legacy Map highlighting the destinations of some of the pavilions and exhibits relocated after the Expo’s closure.

The map illustrates how elements of the Expo are being reused and shared in different locations across Japan, allowing visitors and future generations to continue discovering the stories, technologies and cultural experiences that shaped Expo 2025.

The Legacy Map presents examples across three areas:

From pavilions and exhibition content to repurposed materials, the map captures the wide range of ways Expo 2025’s physical legacy is being carried forward.
